Lacata Dairies was established in 2016 by Laban Tanui and Caroline Tanui with a strong belief in the future of professional dairy farming. Rather than starting small, the founders invested in quality from day one, importing 10 pedigree cows from South Africa to build a herd with superior genetics.
The early focus was precision: excellent nutrition, careful breeding, and modern animal management. Within the first year, every cow successfully calved, doubling the herd to 20 cows. This milestone proved the strength of Lacata’s farming model and reinforced the founders’ commitment to structured growth.
Over the following years, Lacata steadily expanded its operations while maintaining strict standards of animal welfare and productivity. The farm became known across Eldoret for breeding high-quality heifers that help other farmers improve their herds. By 2024, Lacata Dairies was producing 2,000 litres of milk daily — a testament to consistent management and strong livestock genetics.
Yet the story is still unfolding. Lacata’s long-term vision is ambitious: reaching 10,000 litres of milk per day while continuing to serve farmers and communities with reliable dairy solutions. Growth is guided not by speed, but by sustainability, animal care, and trust.
What began with imported pedigree cows has grown into a respected dairy operation — and a model for what disciplined farming can achieve.
